Farewell and Thanks to Carolyn Sutherland

It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that the Board of Directors announces Carolyn Sutherland’s departure as Interim Managing Director. In late 2017 Carolyn Sutherland graciously offered to step down as Vice-Chair of the FMC board to take on the substantive task of leading Folk Music Canada in delivering our annual national gathering, Folk North, and our initiatives with the International Folk Alliance for their conference in Kansas City. To her credit, both events were a great success and we’re extremely proud of what was accomplished.

We would like to offer our deepest thanks to Carolyn both for her years of service on the board and for her contributions as Interim Managing Director during this critical time in our transition. We accomplished a great deal over these last months, in the face of many challenges. Please join us in wishing her every success in her future endeavors. We look forward to working closely with her in her continuing role at Folk Music Ontario. At this time our organization is shifting our focus to renewing our vision and commitment to our membership, community, partners, and stakeholders through a ambitious strategic planning process. We look forward to sharing the exciting results of this process later this year.

Folk Music Canada will fill the permanent position of Executive Director following the completion of the new strategic plan. Until that time, the Executive Committee can be contacted for all related inquiries: ShoShona Kish President - folkmusiccanada.org
